Legal Action

Code of Conduct: Legality

Every action described on this site is legal under the Constitution and laws of the United States.

What This Means

  1. No action described here violates federal or state criminal law. If it does, it will be removed.
  2. All actions are grounded in Constitutional rights: free speech, free assembly, free association, petitioning for redress of grievances, due process, equal protection.
  3. Legal citations are provided for each action’s basis in law. If an action cannot be cited to a legal authority, it does not appear here.
  4. We do not advise anyone to break the law. Ever.

The Strategy

The actions on this site are designed so that the government’s response — not the action itself — creates the political impact:

  • Publishing vulnerability analysis is protected speech. If publishing true, sourced, publicly available economic data about Iowa threatens the state, that reveals the fragility, not the publisher.
  • Forming 501(c)(3) nonprofits is a right protected by the First Amendment and regulated by 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3). If the government suppresses organizations for their name rather than their conduct, that is viewpoint discrimination.
  • Funding scholarships for children bombed by the U.S. military is humanitarian action. If the government blocks it, they are blocking education for children they killed.

In each case, the action is legal. The suppression of the action is the story.

Actions published on this site have been reviewed against applicable law. Where legal risk exists, it is documented and disclosed. We do not pretend that legality guarantees safety — the current administration has demonstrated willingness to act outside legal constraints. But we document, we cite, and we build the legal record.

If You Are Contacted by Law Enforcement

This site does not provide legal advice. If you are contacted by law enforcement regarding any action described here, retain an attorney before speaking. The ACLU, National Lawyers Guild, and your state bar association can provide referrals.
